Treasure Paintings by JR Bissell: "Golden Hand"

Treasure Paintings by JR Bissell: Golden Hand Smelt & Dealt. Did you know goldsmiths invented fractional lending, they would give out receipts for purchased gold people had in their posession, and those receipts would be used for trade which was begining of the origins of paper money. They realized very few people ever withdrew or even check on their gold, so they began lending out more than they had in reserves... and so it began. "A process was started that altered the role of the goldsmiths from passive guardians of bullion, charging fees for safe storage, to interest paying and interest-earning banks. Thus fraction-reserve banking was born."
