COLONIAL NEW JERSEY 1776 15 SHILLINGS PCGS 62PPQ NJ-180 KING GEORGE III, DATED MARCH 25th, 1776 FEATURING THE ANTI-COUNTERFEITING "LEAF STAMP" PIONEERED BY BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (AT HIS PRINTING PRESS). FRANKLIN WAS INSPIRED TO THWART OFF COUNTERFEITERS AND HE INNOVATED THE "LEAF SYSTEM." HE TOOK A LEAF AND POURED PLASTER AROUND IT AND THEN FORMED A COPPER PLATE FROM THE PLASTER CAST AND ATTACHED THE COPPER PLATE TO A WOOD BLOCK (NOTICE ON THE BACK OF THE NOTE THE WARNING: TO COUNTERFEIT IS DEATH). THIS SYSTEM WAS SUBSEQUENTLY USED THROUGHOUT THE COLONIES. SEVERAL COLONIAL NOTES WERE ACTUALLY PRINTED BY BENJAMIN FRANKLIN IN HIS VERY PRINTING PRESS CO. AS WELL AS NOTES PRINTED BY THE NOTORIOUS PAUL REVERE!!!
